TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR CRYPTOCURRENCY

 
  • You are bidding as principal and not on behalf of anyone else

  • You accept and understand that payment can be made in Ethereum or Bitcoin only if made:

    1. from a single wallet registered to you;

    2. using funds belonging to you; and

    3. maintained by one of the following:

Coinbase Custody Trust;
Coinbase, Inc.; or
Gemini Trust Company, LLC

Payments made in cryptocurrency must equal the amount of the hammer price in USD at the time the winning bid is accepted.

Payments from digital wallets hosted at other exchanges or self-hosted wallets will not be recognized or accepted and in such circumstances, payment will be required in USD.

If you are the successful bidder, you agree to provide us with all information and documentation we request in order to verify your identity and to confirm that the Ethereum or Bitcoin payment was made from a digital wallet registered in your name and maintained by one of the platforms above. Partial payments of a lot from multiple digital wallets will not be accepted.

Before the sale, you will have the option to provide your exchange wallet information. If you are the final bidder on any auction lot, amfAR will reach out to you prior to sending an invoice to confirm you still intend to pay with cryptocurrency.

amfAR will provide an invoice and instructions on how to pay in the cryptocurrency of your choice (BTC or ETH).

Terms and Conditions

  1. amfAR will accept advance bids on all auction items until 12:00 p.m., Pacific Time, Thursday, November 4, 2021.

  2. All bids are binding and cannot be withdrawn.

  3. The highest bidder as determined by amfAR at the close of the auction lot will win the item or service.

  4. Every effort has been made to describe auction items accurately. However, all items are sold “as is” and “where is” without warranty or representation of any kind as to accuracy of description, authenticity, value, or fitness for any purpose. By participating in the auction, each bidder recognizes and agrees that amfAR is not liable for any occurrence stemming from the use of the auctioned items or services. All sales are final, and refunds and exchanges are not allowed.

  5. Winning bidders should contact Tricia Courtney at amfargalalosangeles@amfar.org by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 5, 2021 and make payment to amfAR by Friday, November 12, 2021. amfAR accepts American Express, MasterCard, Visa, and Discover. amfAR will also accept checks made out in USD or a wire transfer of funds. amfAR’s permanent office may be reached at +1 (646) 338-3984.

  6. Successful bidders will be responsible for applicable taxes, storage fees, and any out-of-town shipping or delivery costs, even if arranged by amfAR, unless otherwise noted.

  7. All auctioned items are subject to the terms and conditions stipulated by the donors. Purchases that are subject to future fulfillment, such as travel or entertainment items, depend on the schedules of both the purchaser and the donors of the items. amfAR is not responsible if mutually agreeable times and locations cannot be reached.

  8. No refund can be given for purchases/packages not fulfilled within the time period reflected in auction lot descriptions, where applicable.

  9. All items have been acquired by amfAR for the auction. These items are sold by amfAR and not by the donors.

  10. A small portion of the proceeds from the sale of certain items presented herein may be used by amfAR to cover acquisition and logistical costs associated with the procurement and sale of the item.   11. amfAR is not liable for any delays or non-performance in the fulfillment of auction lots due to government-imposed measures or unanticipated circumstances or conditions related to COVID-19. Where reasonably possible, amfAR will work with winning bidders to fulfill purchased lots, subject to delays in transportation, travel, schedules, and other logistics beyond amfAR’s reasonable control.
